Introduction

Have you ever downloaded an exciting spell mod full of creative and interesting spells - only to find yourself spamming fireballs over and over again anyways? Or wished that all the amazing visuals from a mod like Colorful magic were actually incorporated into something lore-friendly and balanced?

Too often in Skyrim, magic turns into a chore. A finger-tapping exercise of using the same spells over and over again, with no room for creative combos or adaptation. Arcanum seeks to change that. Rather than being just a collection of overpowered lightning bolts, Arcanum is designed to be a journey of magical experimentation. Different schools of magic, and different styles within those schools, have been given unique identities and gameplay mechanics, that lend way to creative combos and synergy. As a mage player myself, the mod is made with full awareness of other popular magic mods in mind, and intended to be a lynchpin that can breathe new life into older spell mods, too.

And, after years of experimentation, practice, and communication with some of the most prolific and talented artists and NIF wizards out there, Arcanum has some of the most unique and advanced visual effects of any Skyrim mod out there. Fully animated spinning tornadoes, giant crashing meteors and the ability to summon stars at will are only a handful of the powers at your disposal. Of course, powerful magic isn't easy - and many of these spells require arcane rituals or other setup to use effectively. It's up to you to figure out how to make the most of these spells.

Destruction

When designing the destruction spells, I split the school into three distinct styles along the elements. Each has a different playstyle, strengths, weaknesses, and players may choose either to focus and go all in on one element, or use the others to help mitigate their element's weaknesses. All playstyles will be rewarded with unique combos and payoffs.

Fire
Fire spells in Arcanum are meant to be spammed. They have short cast times, high damage, and reasonable magicka costs. Many spells, like Blazing Soul, were specifically designed to reward the player for casting as many spells as quickly as possible. Fire spells tend to be the most straightforward playstyles of the bunch, but that doesn't mean there's no nuance. For example, fire has a slight healing theme, with spells like Radiant Helix and Cauterize. It's a good way to survive, but when you add Punishing Fire into the mix, all of a sudden these healing spells become absurd sources of damage.

Frost
Frost magic has traditionally gotten the short end of the stick. Stamina drain isn't very useful, and most enemies in Skyrim are Nords, with natural frost resistance. Frost in Arcanum is focused on area control and debuffs. Cover the ground with cheap spells like Icy Vortex and Gelid Gale, slowing enemies and reducing their resistances. Weaken them with Crippling Chill and Icy Cannonade. Finish them with Frozen Maelstrom and Crystal Spear, difficult to aim spells that take advantage of slow, weakened enemies.

Shock
Shock magic has the ability to deal unmitigated percent health damage, which the other elements cannot. Shock spells also have various unique utilities, the ability to boost power at the cost of health, and spells that can trigger one another in loops. In exchange, however, shock spells cost more magicka, and lack as many good area of effect options as Fire and Frost. However, it does have access to one of the best enablers for other area spells in Twisting Tempest.

Combine Fire and Frost, and hold them in place with Gelid Gales while hitting them with fireballs.
Combine Frost and Shock, and use frost's ability to reduce resistances to further increase shock damage.
Combine Fire and Shock, and use fire's healing to offset shock's health loss while hitting them with giant balls of fire and lightning.

The options are endless.

Ancient Invocation can be found at the end of a short mini-quest

The remaining 7 are Reformulated Spells, and must be crafted (See below).

Reformulated Spells and Spell Crafting (Early WIP)

Reformulated spells are a form of spell crafting I mostly envisioned to make more use out of the assets I developed, but quickly grew into something unique. It's a form of combining spell effects and visuals to create spells that are a fusion of other spells. So far, there are only seven Reformulated spells, but expect this number to increase over time as the mod grows.

So far, there are only two places where you can craft Redrafted Spells. One is located in the Arcanaeum of the College of Winterhold.

Future Plans

After this, the first order of business is to move onto restoration and finish all of those spells, while addressing any bugs that might pop up in the current release, and developing a Midden-like-room in Winterhold where Spells could be reformulated more easily. Perhpas future patches could incorporate Reformulation of spells from other mods.

Target date for next major update is 3/18/19

An Altmer Among Men

This little mod brings the writings of TESLORE redditor Misticsan into Skyrim in the form of a four series set of books written by Aldmeri traveler "Tenirtel of Firsthold."

Since these books are extremely demeaning to humans and are considered very controversial, you won't find any reputable booksellers in Skyrim selling them. If you want to find yourself
a copy of the books you'll need to check out Elves, specifically Altmer (pro tip: not just the Thalmor). If you want to avoid spoilers then don't read the list below, as it will detail exactly where you can
go to get copies of each of the books.

* Winterhold, The Frozen Hearth: Nelacar's Room on his table
* Uttering Hills Cave: In Linwe's room, high up on top of bookshelf.
* College of Winterhold: In the Arcanaeum, in the chest labeled "banned books".
* Windhelm: Niranye's House, on a table in the upstairs hall.
* Windhelm: Stables, high up on the bookshelf
* Solitude: Thalmor Headquarters, on the map table
* Thalmor Embassy: Elenwen's Solar, on the desk in her room
* ...and if you don't feel like playing thief, you can get all four volumes of the book in a barrel labeled "rubbish",

Credits

Big thanks goes to Misticsan of /r/TESLORE for his wonderful apocryphal series and for granting me permission to make a mod.

Have you seen baddog1978's fantastic BD UUNP Armor and clothes replacer mod yet? Have you also seen their oh so lovely BD UUNP Dawnguard armor and clothes mod? If your answer is no- stop looking at this mod and go check them out! They're the whole reason this mod exists!

(Pssst, they're also required for this mod to even work, so, yeah, definitely go and check them out now!)

If your answer was yes, then let me ask you another question! Have you seen them and felt sad, because those awesome outfit replacers aren't available for the CBBE body yet? Well then, this mod right here? Is the answer for your woes! Because I know I was a little sad I couldn't use them, so I decided to go ahead and convert them for my own personal use. Then, after a quick message to baddog1978, I got permission to upload them here so that everyone else who uses CBBE can also enjoy them!

Now; here's what you need to know.

What this mod contains:

CBBE compatible bodyslide files for baddog1978's armor and clothing replacer mods

CBBE HDT compatible bodyslide files for baddog1978's armor and clothing replacer mods

What this mod doesn't contain:

Any of the meshes/textures unique to baddog1978's armor and clothing replacer mods

What this means for you:

You'll still need to download baddog1978's armor and clothing replacer mods in order to get their unique meshes/textures

You'll need the Dawnguard DLC in order to see baddog1978's Dawnguard replacers in game

You'll need to start bodyslide after installing the mods, select the group 'BD UUNP - CBBE,' and build your outfits from there so that they will appear in your game
Any questions? Comments? Complaints? Problems? Let me know! I'm extremely new to editing meshes, and everything I did was done in Outfit Studio; I wouldn't be entirely surprised if I missed something. I did try to make sure that the converted outfits would fit well to even the higher ends of the sliders; I don't know about you, but I like my ladies with a bit of meat on their bones. That said, there may still be clipping issues if you've got every single slider turned up to the max- this is especially true if you turn up every single breast slider. Sorry guys- if you want ladies with breasts three times the size of their heads, you're going to have to fix the clipping yourself. You do you, that's a little too much for me. Issues, concerns, or comments other than that? Drop me a message, leave me a comment, I'll see what I can do!

Simple Skyrim Bethesda Logo Remover

$

This mod reduces the time it takes to start up skyrim, by replacing the bethesda logo video file with an empty video file.
This causes skyrim to skip the intro video and saves the player 6 precious seconds of waiting everytime they start skyrim.

I find this mod very usefull if you're starting skyrim frequently and dont want to watch the bethesda logo everytime you start skyrim.
I reccomend installing this mod using mod manager so you can enable / disable it at will without replacing the bethesda logo video file permenatly. If you do accidentally remove the video file and want it back: simply go into steam/library, Right-click skyrim, select properties, local files tab, "VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES..." and steam should check your files and download any missing files.

This works with skyrim and skyrim special edition.

Immersive Guard Armor - Windhelm

$

Windhelm guards now all have sleeves. Additionally, some male guards will sport a dark grey wolf pelt as a cape (I had an issue exporting the female model so the nif file for women crashes skyrim). For now, I'm going to leave it as a mix of sleeved and sleeved men with wolf pelt (men have a chance of having either armor.

These armors ARE NOT meant for player use - I haven't updated the 1st person views.

This is a work in progress, and I intend on eventually making it so that women have the wolf cowl/cape as well, but that'll take some remodeling.

Immersive Guard Armor - Solitude

$

Solitude is the true capital of Skyrim and as such the guards should be outfitted properly.

This mod updates the armor of Solitude guards so that they now have one of three sets of armor - original sleeveless, sleeved, or sleeved with a fancy fox cowl/cape. Right now, only male guards will have the sleeved with the fox cowl due to an issue with modeling in Blender that causes CTD when women wear the armor. Everyone can where the sleeved version.

My motivation is that they are so high up and very close to the snowy areas that, although it doesn't look like it, it's going to be a bit nippy up there.

Recommendations:
Create a bashed patch, always usefull.
Should be compatible with any mod.

Lord Ganondorf Dragmire - A RaceMenu Preset

Ganondorf Dragmire has been reincarnate in the land of Skyrim.
And he's Dragonborn too, ain't that neat.

This preset is of Ganondorf, the main baddie of the Legend of Zelda series of games.
I did my best with what I had.
He's Breton, to assist with the whole "Dark Warlock" feel.
I highly suggest using the Relics of Hyrule mod to really get into character.

Install the file, type in "showracemenu" in your console, and load him up.
He's very tall (As he should be) and should work with Special Edition, but I don't have it installed, so I don't know for sure.

You'll need:
Hirsute Beards for that manly manly beard: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/79442
Brows, for furrowing at the enemies: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30411
Aaaand it's on the preset but any hairstyle that's slicked back will work. I used: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10168

Enjoy. And if you wanna reupload an edited version, go right ahead. No worries, mate!

Important:

*I used the GeraltV7F v1a Hairstyle. However it's female only. So you'll have to change that.
- install the mod
- open the Skyrim Creation Kit
- load the Skyrim.esm, Update.esm, LovelyHairstyle.esp
- click "Set as Active File" and then "ok" - you'll get a bunch of warnings, simply click "yes"
- if everything is loaded go to character -> head part -> female -> head part
- search the hairstyle, double click on it, change from female to unisex
- save & close the CK

After you load his preset you have to skip to complexion slider 1.

Have fun! ^^

Legacy of the Dragonborn (Dragonborn Gallery) - polish translation

Magic Lights Overhaul

This simple mod makes Candlelight and Magelight spells look nice and warm.

The intensity of the light has been decreased from 2.5 to 1.0

The blinding mist around a projectile is greatly decreased and almost not noticeable.

Meshes and lights had been recolored from cold blue to warm orange.

Base duration was increased from 60 to 90 seconds.
Basically this mod is not compatible with any mods affecting Candlelight and Magelight spells. Otherwise there is no reason to be uncompatible with anything.

Skyrim Together Unofficial Add-On - Multiplayer Maps

Instructions:

Simple install. Manual install seems to be the only option that works, at least on my end.

In Game:

Go to whiterun city, to your left there is the guards barrack. On the roof there are two doors. Divide the players in two, half going through door 1 and the other half going through door 2.

When everyone has loaded in on the simple multiplayer map, give everyone a grace period (say 15 seconds to a minute) (and do not go past the wall until the grace period is over).

Once the grace period is over, you can then fight in teams or solo PVP action. Cross the wall's borders (on the opposite end of the map) to meet your enemies and see who comes out on top.

Notes:

Yes, I edited Whiterun so that some objects were deleted. This file was originally a test, but was the only backup file I could find with already finished navmesh, and I didn't feel like doing said navmesh again.

I might do more maps over time. Depends on when the ST team get object sync and SKSE functions working in full. This is just a test to see how well this concept of multiplayer map making would work with Skyrim Together.

MO2 Enderal - Skyrim Redirector

What does it do?

This adds USVFS redirects to MO2 between Skyrim and Enderal files.  Tools that haven't yet been updated to support Enderal will be able to access the plugin load order and game INI files.  The following files are redirected:

%LocalAppData%/Skyrim/plugins.txt    -> MO2_Profile/plugins.txt

%LocalAppData%/Skyrim/loadorder.txt  -> MO2_Profile/loadorder.txt

Global INI files:

My Games/Skyrim/skyrim.ini -> My Games/Enderal/enderal.ini

My Games/Skyrim/skyrimprefs.ini  -> My Games/Enderal/enderalprefs.ini

Profile-specific INI files:

My Games/Skyrim/skyrim.ini       -> MO2_Profile/enderal.ini

My Games/Skyrim/skyrimprefs.ini  -> MO2_Profile/enderalprefs.ini
What tools does it help with?

I've tested this with Dual Sheath Redux and Notepad.  Found something else it's useful for?  Leave a comment!

How do I install it?

Extract the archive to your MO2 installation folder.  The file should up at MO2\plugins\game_enderal_redirect.py.

Note:  This requires MO 2.2.0beta2 or later as that's the first version that supported Enderal.

How do I use it?

As long as you run tools through MO2 like normal, they should see the files.  You can check to see if the plugin is installed correctly by going to the MO2 plugins settings and looking for the "Enderal Redirector" plugin.
